Our Story

Delaware Apparel

Born and bred in the State that Started a Nation, Delaware Apparel is a clothing brand that looks to bring together all the best that the Diamond State has to offer. It may only take two hours to drive from end to end, but there are few places that manage to pack more into their borders than the Small Wonder. And it's because the best things come in small packages that we've made a line dedicated to all things 302. Our quality apparel is casual, comfy and cool enough for everyday wear, no matter what you're up to. We’re promoting the local way of life - Whether you live here year round, or just wish you did, you know things are done differently here... and we’re in no rush to change.

Local Lifestyle Crew

Pierson

Pierson is the Chief Instigator with the Delaware Apparel crew. Growing up in the small beach town of Fenwick Island, you could usually find this surf rat with his buddies surfing, skimming, fishing, playing beach soccer, launching water balloons and whatever other trouble the posse could get into. (Fenwick Island Beach Patrol, if you're reading this, he apologizes for the mayhem) Living a scrapple brick's toss from the state border can build up some fierce pride in the First State. After graduating from Indian River High School, he wound up in the Marine Corps. He traveled the world for a few years and met a ton of great guys and gals who always told him that he was "the only person from Delaware they had ever met." His pride in his home state only grew stronger the further away he got, and so the brand was born.

Jake

Jake is another Fenwick Island native. His family ran the East Coast's FIRST over-night surf camp called Surf Sessions. He spent more hours in the water than on land growing up, but despite living near the beach, he always liked that country living as well. You could find him working on his grandparents' Christmas tree farm in Roxana, B&B Evergreens. Jake loves getting his hands dirty and working up a sweat so at age 14, he and a friend started their own lawn mowing business in Fenwick that has grown to over 100 lawns today. He graduated in 2014 from the University of Delaware and immediately became an Elementary School teacher at Georgetown Elementary. Over the years, Jake could be spotted serving ice cream in the Fenwick Village, coaching soccer at River Soccer Club, waiting tables at The Fenwick Crabhouse, selling Delaware's finest peaches at Bennett Orchards, or teaching people from all over the globe how to surf. What it all comes back to is his love for Delaware and spreading that First State pride! Pierson tricked, ehh, convinced Jake into taking a CEO (Career Endangering Opportunity) role with the crew and he's never looked back.

Michelle

In a company starving for maturity, Michelle can typically be found pulling Pierson and Jake's heads out of the clouds, convincing them that maybe calling NASCAR to price out full-car wrap sponsorships at the Monster Mile shouldn't be our focus just yet. The backbone of the company, Michelle handles inventory and shipping, and works hard to ensure that everyone has a great experience with our products, whether it be an order placed online, or in-person at one of the many festivals & fairs we attend. A graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, Michelle works at Made by Hand in South Bethany, and is very active in the Fair Trade community.

Jessica

The Photographer. Jess is a local girl who takes pride in the state she lives in.  She says that Sussex County helped shape the person she is today.  Photography for her, is an outlet from the everyday stresses of life and she is honored to show off Delaware's best areas.  She shoots a more rustic, rural style vibe and looks to highlight the places that may go ignored.  Jess is an Indian River graduate also.  She has her Bachelor's in Behavioral Science and her Master's in Psychology. Her 1st state love is so strong she even has a Delaware tattoo. Check out her other photos on IG and FB - jessicanowackiphotography. We would have a great photo of her here, but she's the only one that knows how to use a camera...
